CRACKPOT COMICS

To run a successful comic book shop you’ve got to do a couple things. For one, you’ve got to have all the hottest merchandise that all the fanboys are hungry for. But to be really successful, you need star power. So when Danny and Dennis land superstar writer/creator Hank Piller to do a signing at their store to promote his upcoming comic, their dreams of putting their shop on the map are closer than ever. Except the new Piller book has been lost, the superstar might not be what he appears and time is running out. So all Danny has to do is get back the books, set Hank Piller straight, save the shop, and maybe just impress the
hottie at the hair salon across the way.

Try and stop this comics shop? You’d have to be a Crackpot.

BIO:

The story for Crackpot Comics came to Lon Lopez and Nate Costa after attending Wondercon in San Francisco.  Both graduates of the film program at San Jose State, Lon and Nate began talking about their love of comics and movies and how it would be fun to combine the two.  While enjoying a #37 at their favorite Vietnamese noodle house, Lon and Nate starting breaking down the story of some comic shop employees and some misadventures they could get into.   They then decided that the story might work best as a six part web series.  Realizing that they actually had a friend who owned a comic shop (Illusive Comics and Games) the wheels began turning and the two started writing down ideas on their paper table mat.

Once they fleshed out the meat of the story, Lon went to writing the script in parts and was able to churn out all six episodes in about a week.  With a finished script, the two joined up with cinematographer Jason Salazar, and Production Supervisor David Tapia and the web series was now, “In Production.”

This newly formed team worked out a deal with Illusive Comics for location rights and they then began casting.  With cast and crew in place, TBNT productions spent about eight weeks shooting principal photography and then took about another couple months for post.  Once finished, Crackpot Comics had two local screenings, both to sell out crowds.

All six episodes are currently on You Tube and you can view all six in the player below.

Crackpot Comics is the hilarious web series/film from TBNT Productions.
A sure treat for all comics fans, Crackpot Comics is a crazy comedy in the same spirit of Clerks, Anchorman and The 40 Year Old Virgin.
